Liam Delap Tipped for Exit After Goal-Shy Chelsea Debut

Chelsea is prepared to cut their losses on Liam Delap this summer following a dismal debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old arrived from Ipswich Town last summer for £30 million, a move initially hailed as a significant coup after he netted 12 goals for the Tractor Boys.

However, the former Manchester City graduate has struggled to replicate that form, managing just two goals in 38 appearances for the Blues.

Ex-Arsenal striker Alan Smith recently noted that the England U21 star "doesn't look like a Chelsea player" and has fallen behind João Pedro in the attacking pecking order.

Current reports suggest a return to Ipswich Town is highly likely if the Suffolk side secures promotion back to the Premier League this month.

Everton and Newcastle United are also monitoring the situation, with Toffees boss David Moyes previously admitting he remains an admirer of the powerful forward.

The Blues are expected to demand a fee close to their original £30 million investment to fund a pursuit of high-profile targets like Harry Kane.

With Chelsea needing to sanction sales to meet financial regulations, Delap’s tenure in West London appears to be reaching an abrupt conclusion.
